Ethics Code for Discimus Journal Based on COPE Guidelines

The Discimus Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics in academic publishing. Inspired by the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), we have developed this ethics code to guide our editors, authors, and reviewers in their ethical responsibilities throughout the publishing process.

Originality

Authors must ensure that the manuscripts submitted are original works and have not been previously published nor are under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authorship

All individuals who have made significant contributions to the work must be listed as authors. Names of authors who have not contributed significantly should not be added.

Source Acknowledgment

Authors must appropriately cite the works that have influenced the nature of their work.

Conflict of Interest

Any financial or personal interest that could influence the outcomes or interpretations of their manuscript must be disclosed.

Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to notify the journal and collaborate to correct the article.

Plagiarism

Manuscripts must be original works. Any form of plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in the immediate rejection of the article.

Peer Review Process

All submitted articles will be reviewed by experts in the area. Reviewers and authors must maintain the confidentiality of the process.

Editor's Rights

The editor has the right to reject any manuscript for quality, ethical, or any other valid reasons, provided these reasons are clearly communicated to the author.

Confidentiality

All information presented in manuscripts will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Transparency

All decisions made by reviewers or editors will be communicated to the authors with their respective reasons.

Respect

Both authors and reviewers are expected to maintain respectful and professional language in all their communications.

Non-discrimination

No form of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, etc., will be allowed.

Editors' Responsibilities:

  1. Impartiality: Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit and relevance to the journal's scope, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or the authors' political philosophy.
  2. Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff shall not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher.
  3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors shall not use unpublished material from submitted manuscripts in their own research without the express written consent of the author.

Reviewers' Responsibilities:

  1. Editorial Decision Contribution: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with the author, may also assist the author in improving the paper.
  2. Promptness: Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that their prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.
  3. Confidentiality: Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document.
  4. Objectivity Standards: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

Authors' Responsibilities:

  1. Reporting Standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed, as well as an objective discussion of its significance.
  2. Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data of their study along with the article for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data.
  3. Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works.
  4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal.

Procedures for Dealing with Unethical Conduct:

  1. Unethical Conduct Identification: Unethical publishing conduct can be identified and brought to the attention of the editor and chief editor at any time.
  2. Investigation: The editor will facilitate a fair and appropriate investigation and consult COPE for guidance.
  3. Resolutions: Include publication correction, retraction, expression of concern, or removal.

This Ethics Code is a living document, intended to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the academic community and ethical standards of publishing. The Discimus Journal is committed to reviewing it periodically to ensure its alignment with the most ethical and responsible editorial practices.
