Abstract

This article uses as examples the "Three Hares with Joined Ears" pattern from Dunhuang Mogao and the "Nasrid Bowtie" from the Alhambra Palace. First, it analyzes the origin of these patterns and the methods of their creation. Throughout the study of the techniques used to craft both patterns, their similarities are explored. By integrating the concept of "variation figures" in flat composition, a series of creative proposals based on these two forms is developed. Through the analysis of the "Three Hares with Joined Ears" and the "Nasrid Bowtie," valuable insights can be drawn that are applicable to the teaching of design courses.
